For Apple Inc., the year 2010 started off with a bang, as the company created sensation across the tech world with the introduction of its all new tablet device, Apple iPad. Then came the actual launch day for the device and as per Apple;s figures, the company was able sell more than 500,000 Apple iPad units in just the first week of its launch. Now a month onward, that figure has jumped up to a whopping 1 million units in one month, thereby making the iPad sales faster than those of the iPhone.
Since the iPad has gained so much momentum and popularity among the users, it is in fact creating troubles for Apple, who is now facing a major concern of maintaining the demand and supply equilibrium. As per Apple, the demand for the iPad is far exceeding the production capability of the company, thereby leading to the previously announced delay of the device for the international launch. The remarkable achievement by Apple in regards to the iPad sales has far surpassed even the estimates generated by Wall Street Journal, where in the analysts had predicted a total of sale of 1.25 million units for the entire first quarter.
However, even with such encouraging results, some analysts suggest that, the long term demand of the device is yet to ascertained, as the initial iPad frenzy has been the fruit of the die hard Apple fans and early adopters of the device. Yet, for the first fiscal quarter for 2010, could witness a sale of up to 2 million iPad units. As per Apple, so far iPad users have already consumed 1.5 million digital books and a staggering 12 million applications for the iPad.
