MUMBAI: A key Indian equities index rose sharply at opening bell Wednesday and moved up 100 points within minutes of trade.
The sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) opened at 16,723.96 points and was ruling at 16,792.24 points,up 100.24 points or 0.6% from its previous close at 16,692 points, within five minutes of trade.
Around the same time, at the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty was at 5.012.35 points, against the previous close at 4,985.85 points, a gain of 0.53%.
Broader market indices were also in the green, with the BSE midcap index up 0.65% and the BSE small cap index ruling 0.75% higher.
