Mobile broadband is good for productivity - at least according to the findings of new research by O2.
According to the results of O2's survey, nearly half of small businesses in the UK feel that mobile broadband has boosted productivity in 2009, with mobile broadband dongles and devices like the iPhone listed as boons to small business. In all, 44 per cent of growing businesses indicated that mobile internet devices of all kinds have had a positive effect on their operation in recent months.
The study also found that even in a recession year 65 per cent of small enterprises felt that investment in technology was important and had played a supporting role in moving the business forward and enabling greater staff flexibility.
Simon Devonshire, head of small business marketing at O2, said that smaller businesses were "quick to recognise and capitalise on the benefits of technology in 2009". He added: "While many investment plans have needed to take a back seat this year, the best small businesses are aware that cutting back on technology is simply not an option."
